Your Rights
Good Faith Estimate
Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to know what your care will cost before you start. Here is how that works in this practice.
What It Is
Your right to an estimate
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost.
Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers must give clients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy. Because Kraft Psychotherapy is an out-of-network, self-pay practice, this applies to the care I provide.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services. You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. Make sure to save a copy or take a picture of your estimate.
If your bill is higher
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. You must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on your bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
